I've noticed for the last several years that just about every surrounding city has been the beneficiary of the old Granite City Steel Community Federal Credit Union's generosity. It seems just about every city but the one who made them a success.
When this younger generation of new suits decided to rebrand the credit union, they decided to distance themselves and basically cut the ties of the past to the steel mill. And now they have new branches that have popped up in Alton, Edwardsville, Collinsville, Fairmont City and O'Fallon, Illinois. We all know the location in Pontoon Beach is on borrowed time as it has been closed more than it's been open out of the last 2 years now.
To say they have forgotten their roots would be an understatement, they have not only forgotten them, but they have also hacked them to tiny forgettable pieces with an ax and tried to rip them from the ground. It's only a matter of time before these new young decision makers pull out of the Granite City location and make their new headquarters up the hill, where the air is a little less polluted and more to their liking.
What happened to the days of dressing for success, holding yourself to some level of professionalism in clothing and conduct, especially when representing a once respected and appreciated long standing pillar of the community? Yes, that is exactly how many felt about the "Granite City Steel" credit union.
When I and my family and friends and neighbors see our banking establishment, the now Revity credit union make a very public and political statement by taking part in the Alton's Pride Festival by setting up a Revity Credit Union booth handing out branded tote bags and Pride flags, all dressed alike in matching Revity Credit Union PRIDE t-shirts it felt like an insulting slap to the faces of generations of people. The same generations of people that these pride fest attendees never even gave a moment's thought about. Generations of grandfathers, and great grandfathers who indirectly paid the price for these PRIDE Revity Credit Union T-shirts with their blood, sweat and tears and sacrifices.
The leadership of this banking institution is obviously making a very public declaration about it's political stance by taking part in this very controversial celebration, I'm not sure if this is a relationship I want to remain a part of.
Political beliefs, and sexual preferences are what I consider to be private matters. Public discussions of either should have exactly zero to do with my banking institution and my banking institution should care exactly zero about my political stance or sexual preferences.
Here are a few pictures of what is representing the new Revity Credit Union.
The complete lack of professionalism doesn't exactly light a fire in me to run into this establishment to discuss my investments and future financial portfolio.
Sonia your issue that they support gays or that their bank like hundreds of others sell to conglomerates. When I was a young man several banks here were privately owned.
We are no longer in a city where there are big investors. Name change is nothing more than that. Your money will still be there earning interest.
Do you seriously think US Steel or Nipon before it gave a rats ass about our city? When is the last time you read about a big donation from the mill? Years ago!they did not fail, because they did what their country asked of them....
Just a tiny example of a culture war that was lost several years ago. This is the twisted new norm.Remember when Trump said, if they bring a knife, we bring a gun?? Oh wait a minute...
If you are a business, what is your goal? To make money. How do you make money? You get people in the door to use your goods or services. How do you get people in the door? You market your goods or services at all opportunities to hit the broadest number of folks for the least amount of money. I see nothing wrong with where they are or what they are doing. Don't like folks who don't think or look exactly like you, don't show up at events like a pride parade or party. I for one would never turn away paying customers if I owned a business just because I may not agree with how they lived.
Nobody said they did or didn't agree with how they live. I did say I don't like the political stance, and that is exactly what it is, a very political statement by attending a pride celebration. I believe that businesses should remain neutral on these types of issues and make it none of their business. Because bottom line is, it isn't anyone's business what your sexual preference is.
The city has all kind of local festivals, markets and networking opportunities, let's sit back and watch to see just how many of these they are setting up a booth at with arm loads of giveaways for the attendees.
Open a Christmas Club Account get a free lap dance from a drag queen. Come on. You can't convince me this is what the original credit union members would have signed up for.
If the little booth were handing out NRA bumper stickers and the workers were dressed in camo, the liberals would be pissing themselves, but since it was an LGBTQ theme you aren't supposed to say anything.Remember when Trump said, if they bring a knife, we bring a gun?? Oh wait a minute...
Homosexuals shorten their lifespans by decades due to their choice of life style. It's NOT "hereditary" for it that were so, they would not "recruit, recruit, recruit." They would not "come after your kids" as they declared with evil intent at the New York City "gay" parade.
"Gay" is a one-word oxymoron. They are bitter and violent. John Wayne Gacey, Randy Kraft, Jeffrey Dahmer, Donald Harvey, Juan Corona, Patrick Kearney and William Bonin were among America's most prolific mass murderers, all of them homosexual.
When I attended GCHS, homosexuals claimed that "what we do in our bedrooms is our own business." They have screamed and yelled their victimhood so loudly that now they promote it in elementary school to innocent children, many of whom become victims of this insanity.
The biggest scandal IMO is that you will be considered out of line by some for saying what a large segment of society believes. I'm not sure I am all in with your comments, but with most of it, I agree wholeheartedly.Remember when Trump said, if they bring a knife, we bring a gun?? Oh wait a minute...
“The reasonable man adapts himself to the world: the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.” – George Bernard Shaw, Man and Superman
Call me unreasonable. A majority of American college students today believe that socialism/communism is preferable to capitalism, the system they were born into and live in today.
"People who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do." - The Late Steve Jobs
Call me unreasonable and crazy. I'm trying to change the world. I have two inventions (patents pending), one published book and a second in editing. We can only do our best, and then leave it in the hands of our Heavenly Father. He struck the homosexuals blind when they lusted after angels, if you recall.
Incidentally, jabbering among ourselves is not as effective as addressing those in charge of Revity Credit Union. Tell them how you feel about their "pride" of homosexuals and homosexual grooming of innocent children. Two emails are: KBurton@revitycu.com TWOfford@revitycu.com
You can also call and leave messages with their staff for added effect. Granite City's children and grandchildren deserve no less. 797-7993
I’ve done a great deal of personal and business investments with bank in GC. Over the years I estimate that amount well over $1 million.
I can remember back so far when a couple of banks were locally owned. I remember names like Granite City Trust, First National, and others. They are all gone now. Some closed, some sold out to bigger banking corporations and some simply changed names.
I dealt with the people inside and not with the sign on the building.
Why such a big deal about this bank changing? Because it’s called GCS Credit Union? Anyone remember the last day our plant was actually Granite City Steel?
Be glad that bank is only changing names and not closing the doors. I don’t care about their political stances anymore than they care about mine.
If you don’t like it, move your money to one of the other corporate owned banks.
Oh and with sleepy Joe at the wheel, I’ve moved half of my portfolio to buying gold instead of trusting market viability.they did not fail, because they did what their country asked of them....
