The facebook group owner that gives the impression she is employed by the city by constantly using language like "we" any time she is discussing plans from the current administration, or the city claims to welcome all political candidates to the page.
Well, they are welcome until she does enough research to figure out they are republicans. Then the welcome mat is snatched up then rolled up and tucked under her arm.
Then the group members get a brief pep talk or a bit of instructional advice on how everyone should vote the person and not the party and she follows that instruction with offering her personal choices to the group, of who she supports and it's nothing but a list of democrats. Vote the person and not the party my ass.
This group could be taken half assed seriously if it wasn't made up of about 90% democrats all trying to give the impression that they look at all candidates with an open mind when in all actuality they would vote for a candidate with an IQ of 50 before they did a republican.
That's nothing new, that's how Democrats operate. Since it seems to work for them a fair amount of the time, don't expect that to change anytime soon.Democrats did more to stop the distribution of Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine than Fentanyl.
Mrs O. Shows me posts where it said admin turned off commenting on a couple of the Granite City pages.sounds like CNN turning off Biden’s mic when he loses his focus.they did not fail, because they did what their country asked of them....
I just don't look at a party on a city level like I do even at a county level on up, but maybe that's just me. I have noticed in the past that it is off-limits to criticize certain mayors in the area. Denham was fair game as was the previous mayor of Granite City, but you simply do not say one discouraging word about the current Mayors. If you do so, you will get pushback from what almost appears like their own social media army. I'm not judging here, maybe that's the current way things are done, and hell maybe they are just doing a good job. It does seem that once a political figure's luster has worn off, the nay-sayers are pretty brutal. Maybe the way to avoid that is to have good social media allies. In these instances, I'm thinking it's not such a Republican-Democrat thing, but maybe I'm wrong.Democrats did more to stop the distribution of Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine than Fentanyl.
"I just don't look at a party on a city level like I do even at a county level on up"
Joe, I believe that is a big part of the problem. Never underestimate a democrat, regardless of the level. It is that laxed attitude that has allowed this blue town to become stained in permanent ink.
Many of these democrats have no middle ground. They, even if they don't believe it themselves, certainly try to convince anyone who will listen that if you're republican you hate or don't support unions. If you're republican you're against abortion under any circumstances, even in cases of rape, incest or even life saving measures of the mother. If you're republican you're heartless and want to take away ALL government assistance to those who need it.
The old standard claim, they won't let you abort an unwanted pregnancy/child, but they will take away it's EBT or WIC and let it starve.
All of the above is absolute bullshit!
I've paid into the union for almost 30 years now and would never stop supporting it. Abortion, who the hell am I to tell someone they have to proceed with an unwanted pregnancy resulting from being raped? Or if a woman's life was hanging in the balance, that she should have no choice forcing her to risk her life. Nobody should have that kind of power over anyone, not even the government.
On the flip side, when some of these lunatics take the abortion issue or their rights to one, to such an extreme that they feel they are within their rights to end a pregnancy and abort a viable unborn child up to the point of full term or post birth, the people who believe and support that are sick in their heads. I don't believe in giving anyone a free ride through life. If you are of an able body and mind, you should have to work for a living, unless you are okay with living under a bridge.
I do believe in helping those who help themselves and believe that the entire welfare system needs to be reformed. I also don't believe you should receive a tax return 10 times more than you ever paid in for the year, how did that ridiculousness even start?
Now we have mayors and councilpersons publicly endorsing the democrat of their choice, walking and working the neighborhoods using their positions or status to influence their neighbors and friends. Again, vote the person and not the party my ass. Some spoke out prematurely and publicly endorsing John Janek for Madison County Board, but that was before the last-minute toss in democrat opponent Emily Gavilsky decided to toss her hat into the ring. Now, I wonder how that will play out. Do they stick their necks out and continue to endorse Janek, bucking their democrat buddies or will they tuck tail and flip and fall in line to get the Tinsel Town girl elected, just as easily as she landed the new position at the city's newest business venture, the Mill? I wonder what that gig pays and how many applicants there were applying for that job.
Speaking of the democratic headquarters, pardon my mistake, I mean speaking of Tinsel Town, if you have any question of who supports who, and who is friends with who, drop on in today around 4:30 and take a look around. Who am I kidding, drop in any time their open and you'll easily connect the dots in no time at all. In fact, if you look hard enough you just may find reserved seating for the regulars. My guess is you will see a mayor or two, a councilperson or persons, certainly a city hall employee or two or three, but what I bet you won't see is a republican in the house, a true republican that is!
Vote the person and not the party, that should be the city's new motto for every election but sit back and take notes on how many mayors and councilpersons walk the neighborhoods elbow to elbow with a republican candidate or make endorsement videos to share on facebook in support of a republican. I promise, you will not run out of ink.
You make good points Mary Beth. Personally, I don't think either side gives a rat's ass about the middle class.
The democrats try to buy the vote of the poor with money giveaways, free this, free that. The "Trumplicans", tend to help the upper class.
I enjoyed the money I made during the Trump years. I didn't like some of his loose cannon rhetoric. The ridiculous polices of Sleepy Joe have cost me a small fortune.
I personally don't believe in abortion, but I'll stand by the rights of the female members of my family to be in charge of their bodies.
As for who the local guys endorse? Who really cares? It reminds me of when the unions used to preach at their members, "VOTE DEMOCRAT". Guess what, half of them don't vote the way union leadership tells them to any longer and proof of that is in the results.
These local leaders set my tax rate and at my age, that's important. I have a home that's paid off, but my taxes cost me more than my original mortgage payment. They have no more relevance to me than that. They can't vote on free passes for the poor or tax breaks for the rich. They can't vote on things like abortion or border control.
I have yet to have a GOP candidate knock on my door, yet I will vote for them. Madison County and yes, Granite City have slowly started turning red. Of course, Chicago never will.
I've seen the attack ads that come in my mailbox and go directly into the recycle bin. One state senator candidate starts his ad with, "I'm not a typical democrat". What does that even mean? Maybe because he was a cop and doesn't like the way the democrats have criminalized police officers.
November 8th may change a few nameplates on the seats of congress, but it won't change what happens to me and you. Let's be real. One party will be chasing the other through legal processes like the dems did Trump. We'll investigate Hunter and Joe, possibly even start impeachment processes against Joe but nothing will change.
Meanwhile, I'll try to protect my finances and the inheritance of my children.
I remember in my day, the democratic power machine met at places like Charlies or the Trojan Restaurant in Madison. Every job at that time was decided in those back rooms. The "Tinsel Town" gal is third generation of those days. I do understand that she won't actually get a city salary and benefits to run the new place.
Elections come and go but I can't say that my life, other than my portfolio, benefits or is damaged every two or four years. I just like to sit back and listen to their BS.
they did not fail, because they did what their country asked of them....
MaryBeth, trust me, nobody despises Democrats more than I do. I'm not one of these Republicans like some even on here that try to appease people on both sides. I don't use Democrat terms that were given to Trump supporters by Democrats and I don't join in the Democrat class envy game, especially considering that for quite some time the Democrats have done just fine with Wall Street. IMO that kind of so-called Republican is worse than Woke Ass lunatic Democrats because they are all over the damn place. Democrats dont play that game, you are either all in or you can GTFO, Republicans have loads of half ass Republicans, and always have. Every time they say something that is right on the button they feel the need to balance it out by saying something a good public school-indoctrinated Democrat would say. I'll take the nutjob leftists over the phony every time, at least you know what you have.
But and this is a big but, in some local races, who even knows what party some of these people are, and yes I know the mayor of GC is a Democrat, but the mayor of Pontoon Beach I'm not so sure. He seems to push Democrats from time to time in some elections, but I don't much care what any mayor has to say about an election other than maybe the one he is running in. He is a good mayor and at least from all appearances tries to stay clear of party politics.Democrats did more to stop the distribution of Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine than Fentanyl.
Funny, I was told by two Madison County officials that the mayor told them he voted for Trump in 2020 and that he didn't even consider himself a Democrat anymore.
Wow, that would be ok with me, but also quite a turnaround.Democrats did more to stop the distribution of Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine than Fentanyl.
I would guess that with his stand on the 2nd, Mayor Pagano despises what the democratic party has become.
And many people, especially union, still use the D behind their name until they go into the voting booth.they did not fail, because they did what their country asked of them....
How right you are with this statement. I listened to these stories for decades. "I remember in my day, the democratic power machine met at places like Charlies or the Trojan Restaurant in Madison. Every job at that time was decided in those back rooms."
Same ole same ole with new locations and younger players from a few generations back laying the groundwork to continue those pathways for the generations that will come after them. The jokes or jabs being whispered behind the backs of the powers that now be, are all talking about the "family" that has resurfaced that are calling more of the shots than most people realize. I'm sure this is all just baseless rumors, right?
The commercial you mention, where the guy says, "I'm not a typical democrat". I laughed to myself and thought wow, this commercial should be being paid for by the republican committee. This handpicked candidate just confirmed the thoughts of every voting republican if even he thinks the typical democrat is nothing to be proud of or doesn't want to be mistaken for one. You just can't make this stuff up!
Some unions bully members to vote as they are told or they did in the past anyway.Democrats did more to stop the distribution of Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine than Fentanyl.
It's not even as though Republicans have to be something great, all they have to do is not be Democrats.Democrats did more to stop the distribution of Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine than Fentanyl.
