The NL East is a very winnable division but it appears the Cardinals are more interested in reminiscing than trying to win. Between Waino Molina and Albert, this team will be playing old-timers games all season. Maybe they can bring back Whitey Herzog to co-manage.
Will all the fans who hated on Albert after he bolted love him again? Pujols was a monster in his prime but now Hes a 250 hitter who has to be platooned and will be taking a spot from a younger player. I see this as a nice PR move that may divert people's attention away from the fact that until this point the team has done little to improve this off season. Dementia JOE killed 50 illegals and didnt even need a rifle to pull it off.

All these rule changes are a scourge on the game.
But the universal DH rule leaves an opportunity, if Albert can still send a pitch sailing over the fences.
RH pitchers will strike him out, and LH pitchers will probably intentionally walk him (without the pitcher expending the energy to throw 4 pitches.)
With these new rules, i'm probably less apt to buy tickets and even second guessing renewal of my MLB.TV subscription.Capital Punishment - Those without capital get the punishment.

I supported Albert when he left St. Louis for more money. His first responsibility is to his family and he still did good things through his foundation here in town. He made a sound business decision.
This move by Cardinals ownership is merely a publicity stunt because they know they still don't have a pitching staff than can win a world series. The money they spent to put butts in the seat will be popular with some. It was a good "business" decision, not a good baseball decision. they did not fail, because they did what their country asked of them....
