I'm anxious to see what kind of sales. Furniture, a mixture of goods, what ever it is, it's something positive to look forward to! |
"RUMOR CONTROL: Yes, the former Kmart property has sold!
The City is in conversations with the new Owner which is an internet sales/retailer. This type of business will provide the City not only local taxes but is anticipated to generate sales tax on internet sales. Increasing sales tax revenue is extremely important to fund police, fire and streets. Sales tax revenue also helps the City to be less reliant on property taxes.
“We are working to immediately demolish the car wash on the property and start understanding more about the business and negotiating a redevelopment plan. I am going to be very focused on getting the best redevelopment possible.” Mayor Parkinson
The City has not received any further information, plans or request regarding the property. We expect the redevelopment process to be at least 6-months."
