Millgirl, I think most police officers would agree to a point. However, be it a rifle or a couple of 45 semi-auto pistols, response time to take out the threat is key. Officers in the building as they were today, are the most rapid response. Can't be debated.
The gun ban you spoke about was almost thirty years ago and we didn't have these types of attempts back then. Social media, media coverage, etc. give these nutjobs a whole new audience.
I would also imagine the number of guns in existence now is probably double what it was back then. I know that I myself increased the number of guns I keep largely due to the fact that we're so soft on crime now that I worry about who's out there walking around with intent to harm me or mine.
I wish we could wave a magic wand and make this go away but we can't. When Biden and his troops tell me they have taken every gun from every gang banger and have taken guns away from every irresponsible gun owner who allows their child to access their weapons, I'll turn mine in.
