Most long term care facilities are federally funded and must abide by IDPH and local health department guidelines. The facilities don't have a choice in locking their doors to visitors. We are doing our best with offering outdoor visits, video chats, window visits and phone calls with families. Trust me when I tell you none of the employees choose to do this. Until the positivity rates in our regions decrease, we will not be able to open back up. Wear a mask, social distance and avoid large gatherings. Do your part to help us so that we can help our residents and families.
