Granite City Street / Public Works Department - A Joke Archived Message

I listened to this play out on the scanner this morning. There were first responders requesting barricades for several of the streets involved in the evacuation, so people could not drive down the affected streets and where they could remain a safe distance from this incident. Our FINE, UPSTANDING Granite City Street / Public Works Department told the GC police dispatcher, not their problem, contact IDOT. One of the first responders was pretty miffed over the response and asked over the radio how many were needed, four, five, seven, eight? Evidently he realized how busy the City Public Works Department must have been in order for them to ignore their own mission statement and to refuse to help respond during this emergency....and most likely went and picked them up himself. "Our Mission is to provide our customers (the citizens of Granite City and our visitors) with the best streets for their use and convenience and to continue to be aggressive with maintenance and monitoring of all of the items that are assigned to the Street & Sanitation Department so as to promote the health, safety and welfare of our community. Who are these jokers? What do they actually do? Who are they related to? How much are they raking in a year? I know one thing as fact, they sure the hell need to do something with Johnson Road. That patchwork repair job is PATHETIC. That's if they aren't too busy playing cards or having their noses buried in their phones. I would like to have a list of employees, their job descriptions and their salaries. Granite City government, their only mission...to pay salaries. These lazy bums should have jumped up off their asses and brought the street barricades where they were needed. What say you ROGER KNOBELOCH
