The problem is the House had every chance to bring witnesses or take this to the Supreme Court to force those witnesses to come forward. They couldn't though because they were in a hurry to fry Trump before November. Nancy knew that and that's why she drug her hooves the whole time. She's smarter than Nadler.
The GOP was never going to call witnesses in the Senate. The first lesson in law school is "never call a witness unless you know word for word what they will say".
John Bolton wins this. He will now sell more "Who Shot J.R. books than he would have had Trump been acquitted.
Mitch simply outplayed Nancy and her good squad and in doing so, fired up the Trump base. Trump once said he could shoot someone on Park Avenue and not be found guilty. With the way this was handled, not only would he be found innocent, his troops would clean the gun and dispose of the body.
November will be a repeat of 2016. The strategy should have been to give the swing states everything they asked for. The only way Trump loses is to allow his voters in those states to be lulled into a false sense of security. The dems just told his followers that he is their target and that will only fire them up more.
