Husband accidentally donates wife's wedding dress to Goodwill, mistaking it for tablecloths

Meredith) -- A man in Mount Washington, Kentucky accidentally donated his wife's wedding dress to the local Goodwill. Now, the couple may never get it back.

Kayla Alvey told WAVE she and her husband decided to clean out their garage earlier this month and donate tablecloths from their August 2015 wedding. Unfortunately, her husband grabbed a bag with her wedding dress in it, mistaking it for more tablecloths. Her veil was also in the bag.

"He donated my dress with the tablecloths," Alvey told WAVE. "He feels horrible."

The bags were donated to Goodwill on Jan. 19, but Alvey didn't realize her dress was missing until nine days later on Jan. 28. Family members went to Goodwill looking for the dress but couldn't find it. The Alveys assume someone purchased the dress.

Alvey said whoever bought the dress should "by all means" wear it, but she wants it back in the long run.

Goodwill posted fliers inside the store about the missing dress, hoping whoever purchased it will return to the store to shop again and see the signs.

If you know where Alvey’s dress is, email her at kayla.alvey@nortonhealthcare.org.
