as many other cities have adopted the same or similar law. Collinsville for example has a criminal background element as well on the landlords. They say these laws are racist because people of color are more likely to have criminal activities in their past. I can not comment on that one. Now the police do in fact have to enforce laws that are on the books. I have heard though that their is one police lieutenant that seemed to have a personal vendetta on this issue. Again I can't comment but by knowing the cop I can easily believe he was a jerk on the issue among others as well. None the less right or wrong that law is out the door and the City will have to find a new way to shake down the landlords. Remember fees and fine are needed to try and keep those pensions funded; every little bit helps!
