Come on Tired, buildings dont pay taxes, people pay taxes. I dont know the circumstances behind how these businesses wound up in Pontoon Beach, but you know full well that tax incentives and other enticements sometimes enter into a deal. In this deep in the red state i wouldnt imagine the goodies would be all that significant and they wont last forever. The employees will receive at least minimum wage and probably higher and the nice part of it is that nobody will be mandated to work any of those jobs. If you dont like this job, you dont have to take this job.
