It would just be good if they would just understand what they are talking about. First of all comparison of Granite City and Edwardsville are not good comparisons. If anything compare with Alton. Collinsville is another bad comparison, though slightly better than Edwardsville. I took the time to do some research here and went back to the course catalogue of good ole Granite. It was a trip down memory lane, but some things have changed. Granite City has shedded a few of their shop courses, but still has Auto, Electricity, Welding, Building Trades, Machining -- and I may be missing one or two, but I didn't see wood shop, but figured that carpentry would likely be taught in building trades. Building furniture by hand may be a good hobby, but I can see why that could be shuttered today. Then I go to Edwardsville's catalogue. The career offerings are really good, but surprsingly more geared toward business, agriculture and maybe some architectural drafting. Afterall, their district covers the northeastern portion of the county. Again, very different from Granite City. Maybe Granite City is living in its manufacturing past, but if you look at the census numbers that Palin posted -- its output is very high for a city its size. Granite city has a LOW rate of those who have earned a bachelor's degree. All the same, it doesn't account for those who have received other credentials and have gone on to have respectable careers in the trades. So again, you don't know what you're talking about. You just want to cherry pick your states to denigrate first responders...and now teachers. Who's next?
