"if the focus weren't on the selfish right to personal protection but on our responsibility to serve our country?" Seriously? I had to read this three times. Personal protection is selfishness? That is the most ludicrous conclusion I have ever heard. Does this Jeff Yang have any idea how many civilians have always participated in our war efforts? The young, the few, and the proud - the reserves have no place for older gun owners! Militias consisted of volunteers - and protected the counties. "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." The right of the PEOPLE to keep and bear arms. Its simple and it is established: keep means possess and bear means to carry. Shall never be infringed. INFRINGE: to commit a breach or infraction of; violate or transgress
