Prenzler Attacker Given a Free Pass. Archived Message

The day i first heard of this it was obvious to me that the guy that accosted Kurt Prenzler was going to get off with a hand slap or maybe even less than that. It took them two years to decide what everyone else should have known in two minutes. Prenzlers crime was having the audacity to point out political corruption from the opposition party. That simply is not allowed, not in this county anyway. It is technically ok for Prenzler to do what he did, his mistake was going out in public afterwards, without taking a goon squad with him.
I get it that guys get deals all the time, and its not exactly as though Prenzler was beaten to a pulp, but everyone knows this was pure politics. If someone had attempted something like this with the previous County Chairman or any previous chairman for that matter they would have sat in a cage for 6 months, and rightfully so i might add. You simply cant allow citizens to put their hands on public officials, PERIOD. And for damn sure a victims political party should not be the measuring stick as to whether his or her attacker is going to be held accountable.
As for Prenzlers reaction, that is somewhat surprising to me, i mean he had to know how things were going to play out right? Anyone paying any attention to this should have known that nothing or next to nothing was going to come of this, and that it would probably be dragged out forever. This is the Peoples Republic Of Illinois for Gods sake. IMO the whole process reeks and is more unjust than the unfortunate incident that started it all to begin with. Will it ever change, of course not.
