Kamala Harris is not African American and her ancestors owned slaves Archived Message

This stuff gets funnier by the minuet. No big deal to the usual bunch of those that vote for a living selling their votes for food stamps bought with hard working taxpayers though. They still know the only vote for them begins with a D.

The left is excited about Sen. Kamala Harris running for president because she’s a black female. But she’s not African American. The term “typically refers to descendants of enslaved black people who are from the United States.” Harris is half Jamaican and half Indian. And her father says their ancestors owned slaves.

However, she’s trying to play the race card in the presidential election in order to attract the black vote. She tried to portray Joe Biden as a racist during the first Democratic debates last week. “It’s personal and it was actually very hurtful to hear you talk about the reputations of two United States senators who built their reputations and career on the segregation of race in this country,” Harris said, referring to praise Biden had given segregationists he worked with in Congress. “It was not only that, but you also worked with them to oppose busing. And there was a little girl in California who was part of the second class to integrate her public schools and she was bussed to school every day. And that little girl was me.”

Ali Alexander, an outspoken conservative activist who is half African American and half Arab, was disgusted with Harris pulling the race card during the debate. He called her out on her heritage Thursday. He tweeted, “Kamala Harris is *not* an American Black. She is half Indian and half Jamaican. I’m so sick of people robbing American Blacks (like myself) of our history. It’s disgusting. Now using it for debate time at #DemDebate2? These are my people not her people. Freaking disgusting.” Unlike Harris, Alexander’s ancestors lived through slavery and the Jim Crow era. Harris’s parents moved to the U.S. in 1960-61, the tail end of Jim Crow laws.

Hardly anyone else has dared to bring up Harris’s heritage, instead giving her a free pass for speaking out on African American issues. Harris also uses her black identity to talk about issues like reparations. This is even more absurd considering her ancestors owned slaves. But she talks about it as if she’s a victim.

Harris has a controversial record on race as California Attorney General. She pursued tough on crime policies that some believe disproportionately hurt blacks. Harris “fought to keep people in prison even after they were proved innocent.” She “resisted calls to get her office to investigate certain police shootings.” Donald Trump, Jr. tweeted a few days ago, “Kamala Harris was for locking up non-violent offenders for a looooong time, before she was against it. Don’t be fooled, it took a Republican President to pass the FIRST STEP ACT!”

She had her sights set on a higher office, so she wanted to present herself as a tough on crime prosecutor. Critics label her a “cop,” which she welcomed, proudly calling herself “California’s top cop.”

Harris is using her black identity to get blacks excited about her campaign, hoping they’ll forget about her past history as a prosecutor. She’s trying to gain a strong showing in the South Carolina primary, where there are a lot of blacks. She’s culturally appropriating African American culture for her own benefit. On her Senate website, she labels herself as African American. During a radio interview in February, she claimed she smoked pot while listening to Tupac Shakur and Snoop Dogg in college. But she graduated from college in 1986 and those artists did not arrive on the scene until the early 1990s.

For his efforts, Alexander was viciously attacked and called a racist by Democratic presidential candidates Beto O’Rourke and Jay Inslee. Elizabeth Warren called for censoring Alexander from social media. “The attacks against @KamalaHarris are racist and ugly. We all have an obligation to speak out and say so. And it’s within the power and obligation of tech companies to stop these vile lies dead in their tracks,” she tweeted.

But there is a double standard. Alexander questioned why CNN’s Don Lemon wasn’t attacked when he pointed out Harris’s non-African American heritage.

Jane Lytvynenko of Buzzfeed accused Alexander of being a birther. This was bizarre, considering Alexander was not questioning whether Harris was born in the U.S. Maggie Haberman of The New York Times labeled Alexander as alt right. Alexander pointed out how ridiculous that was, noting that he’s helped young men leave the alt right, his business partners are Jewish, he’s well-known enemies with the Spencer alt-right and he’s never referred to himself as alt right.

The Washington Post suggested that Ali was a bot targeting black voters. This is also bizarre considering Ali is a longtime, well-known political activist who frequently posts videos of himself talking about politics.

CNN’s Brian Stelter erased Alexander’s avatar from a screenprint of his tweet (which clearly shows he’s black) because it didn’t fit with his spin that a racist started the accusations against Harris.

If that’s the best the Democrats can come up with to defend Kamala Harris, calling a Republican black man a racist, they are really desperate. ESR
