I will try to be positive, as ive been admonished in the past for being negative. I feel the most compelling item is that 70 percent of city money collected is for city operations which includes saleries. as a result, there is no monies left to improve the city infrastructure, hence the deterriation of the city. Pieces of our curbs were replaced last summer, yes, i said peices. why?, no money. I have made several comments about the overgrown trees. drive down the older streets in the summertime, its almost amusing as the trees and limbs hanging in the streets form a square. thats because we use the UPS trucks to trim them. On a positive note, some changes were made, thus raising fees and fines i see. dont know if that helped or not. Im glad to live here even tho im distressed about city appearances and infrastructure. One thing I can say is even as I write this, another long time taxpaying homeowner that has been proud of the town is making a decision to leave quietly. I get calls repeatedly asking me to buy their homes, as I try to get them not to desert the ship. We have too much rental property in town, including mine. Im trying to sell all mine, even making some renters into responsible homeowners. At this point, i dont have an answer. I dont know if we would be better off having a new captain of the Titanic or not. Hopefully, we can stop the inrush of the cold atlantic water, patching the hole, im too old to survive a long wait in the lifeboat, at best, waiting for a rescue ship. this is too much for me, its nap time again.
