WOw I get the distinctive honor of the first post of 2019 --- lucky me!!

Topix is gone, good riddance --- Please stand for the GC National Anthem, one last time:

I am so glad that we go into a new year with that portal gone forevermore. Finally GCAI will listen to me and not go anywhere near Topix.

In this, the hopeful penultimate year of the Trump reign of terror - that you have a good year, and that we can be in good shape for the shape we're in.

All the best to Granite City...and to its fine neighbors....

Read on --- and don't be so pissed about what's above this line....I only wrote it for that reason...but what's below has a little more substance and slightly unique content...

Time is a relative concept and indeed we're all the same and we take our baggage from 2018 and just move it over another year, if we were lucky to do so.

It's good that we as humans aren't quitters. We probably won't lose weight, our closets will get cluttered again....and we'll be in this same place again next year.

It's good that we are not quitters and that there is hope that possibly this time next year, we will come out of this year as better people.

I don't know about you, but I live for that hope, it's what keeps me going --- knowing somewhere out there there's a better me, and there are new horizons to chase. When that all becomes unattainable, then I have ceased being able to live. Hopefully I have a plan that by the time I'm confined to a chair, there's still something for me to discover somewhere.

I am content with many aspects of my personal life and have under control as many demons as I can. There are other things that I just can't be, so I'll try to fake it with grace and humility the things I don't have to be the man I wish I could be. For instance -- I am not a type A person, I'll always live with chaos....so there are parts of the type A world I have to fake with grace...so I can eat....on funds provided by my own labors.

So these new year resolutions may or may not be accomplished... but it's good that we can still make them....and that there is hope to be a better me and a better you in 2019.

If that hope has long dissipated, check your pulse.... but before despair sets in, give yourself a pat on the back before you kick yourself. There is much you are capable of that you don't even realize.

I have stories upon stories that I could share.

Happy New Year Granite City and to anyone reading from anywhere else!
