Those innocent people will have this on their minds now for a long time, every noise they hear they will fear the worst. Having a gun pointed at you is not a pleasant experience. This seems obvious, but its never a bad idea to get better locks, more outside lights, and some kind of alarm system, even a fake one could serve a purpose.
