Republicans do much better with Private Sector unions than Public sector unions. Also in many cases the members tend to vote Republican more often than the union higher ups. Seeing union leaders like Richard Trumka backing Trump up on the tariffs talk is both surprising and unsettling to me. Trump is not an ideologue as this kind of thinking falls in line with the Democrats spin on trade. The problem i see for Trump is that more Republicans will oppose him on this issue than Democrats will support him. Democrats vote straight ticket in a higher percentage than Republicans do and just because they may be forced to go along with him on tariffs, that will never translate to votes. Trump is doing what he said he was going to do on the trade front, but my advice to him would be to tread softly, which really isnt his style.
