Who writes this crap? I was interested in reading this up to the point I read this part. (A highly qualified, Jim Pennekamp, was removed from the head of MESD to make room for Helen Hawkins, a self appointed advocate with zero training other than living in a flood zone.) Is Helen Hawkins a Madison County Board Member, head of MESD or personal puppet to Prenzler? A recent timeline of events to help keep track: -Helen Hawkins was a Madison County Board member for over 10 years in the Granite City area. -Kurt Prenzler removed her from the Madison A highly qualified, Jim Pennekamp, was removed from the head of MESD to make room for Helen Hawkins, a self appointed advocate with zero training other than living in a flood zone. County Board and appointed her to the head of Metro East Sanitary Sewer District (MESD) a few months ago against the recommendation of many. --Three short months ago in May of this year, Prenzler said, "This is Helen's Passion. I believe because of her experience and knowledge of the area and its residents she will do a great job." -Just last month Prenzler attempted to appoint someone to take Hawkins' board seat but the board voted that person down. Fast forward to this month's county board agenda (pictured). Helen Hawkins is being removed from the head of the MESD board and Prenzler would now like to appoint her back to the Madison County Board. If she is so qualified to serve why is he moving her? Could speculations be true? Did Prenzler use Mrs. Hawkins as a pawn to place votes on the Madison County Board and again on MESD and will continue to use and abuse her until he is stopped? Will the people of her district allow this? "a self appointed advocate with zero training other than living in a flood zone" Really?
