This is in no way intended to put down the residents of Nameoki Township. Believe me, we have just as many issues here in Granite City.
The nonsense going on in that little building on the side of 162 are a clear indication and justification of the lack of trust in government these days.
Just reading about some of the nonsense makes you wonder who is in bed with who, who is lying under oath and who is feathering their own nest.
When you have an elected board such as our city council and your township board, you're supposed to be able to look to those people to make sure your money is being spent properly and your best interest are served.
Instead you apparently have several people in charge including the supervisor, town clerk and office staff who aren't above board at all. You have a board that appears to rubber stamp everything including resolutions, payment of bills etc.... just so they can wrap up the meetings quickly.
You have a street department official who is being made fun of for having a worker clean the highway trash. Isn't that the job of those people? Here in GC, we have four guys watching one guy dig a hole on occasion.
You have a town clerk who either lies under oath or is too "forgetful" to testify about writing up a subordinate.
I would encourage the residents to really put personalities aside when voting. Your board is an embarrassment to professional minded people. It would seem as the sitting board has given complete power to the current supervisor. It would seem as if he has used that power to create his own little empire out there.
Presswood and Kreher may not have all the answers and people like Horseygirl may not be able to fix the mess, but I would sure as hell give them a try.
