There are some things I want to clarify for people who might see a flier being circulated by my opponent.
Regarding Elaine Beckland:
I worked in the assessors office for 5 years and 8 months from April 2008 till December 2013.
I have been a Certified Illinois Assessment Officer (CIAO) for 7 years. This designation is required by the state of Illinois for ALL assessors to have in order to hold the position.
I was a realtor with a brokers license for 6 years and 10 months. My first year in real estate I was rookie of the year, closing more than any new agent did for that year. My company had 6 offices at the time.
If my opponent is going to assess property fairly and accurately without the need to protest why did she have 75 protests in 2016? My last year as assessor in 2013 I had 60 protests! Why did it go up?
The assessors office always has, does and will give special attention to seniors, disabled individuals and disabled vets, no matter who the assessor is!
I have knowledge of township property values both with my real estate background and as a former FULL TIME assessor.
As far as correcting mistakes made by me....In 2013 the county went to a new windows based system from an old DOS based command system. When the parcels transferred over many didn't transfer correctly and required the assessors office to manually go into them and make sure everything was correct and fix what wasn't. We were able to correct a lot of them, but were unable to get all of them. There are roughly 7000 parcels in Nameoki Township.
I was looking around at parcels not too long ago, and I was interested to find that the assessments on properties that are owned by our current assessor and her father have been going down consistently since she took office. Coincidence?
These are just some facts that can be compared to things that she is alleging.
