I brought this up at the meeting tonight, Opie, that the taxpayers are tired of seeing our public employees get salaries and benefits far better than the people who actually pay for them.

That they must be out of touch with the voters if they think anything else.

I was informed that this is the way it's always been done.

Having lived here for several decades now, with all of their antics that I know about through at least a few different supervisors, and probably twice that much that I don't--this explanation does not comfort me.....

Then Trustee Leuhmann, or former police chief, reminded me that he knows it's election time, and that he's not fooled by my "high-and-mighty" concern for the taxpayers, because he knows I voted for a union raise for our police force when I was a Trustee for the Village of Pontoon Beach.

At which point I told him that I sure did--our police force that lays their lives on the line for us every day deserves more from us than the under worked staff of a redundant public entity.

Apparently he doesn't see the difference....

I don't think the lawyer let them pass it tonight with more to do. They can't just slap that stuff up willy-nilly and approve it....

Otherwise, the Road Department is trying to update the process by which their bills are presented. Progress is hard when they are working with people who have always done it another way and are resistant to change, but everyone ended cooperative.

Otherwise, not much else going on....
