You are absolutely right. The pharma companies and many docs are pushing oxycontin like it is sweet tarts. Doctors are now allowed to prescribe oxy to kids as young as 13. Oxy is the number 1 gateway drug to heroin.
Sadly many people get all ruffled about weed. Not even close. I asked my doc what he considers more dangerous, weed or alcohol. He just laughed and said it is not even close. Alcohol by far is more dangerous, both to the user and those around them.
Remember this....pharmaceutical companies are not trying to come up with cures. They are looking to get customers...long term. Plus under our antiquated drug laws, people that get hooked on heroin and other addictive drugs help one of the this country's other top industries...the prison industry.
