Blu, a question that you might know the answer to. How is Mrs. Hawkins allowed to serve on two boards? I know in Granite City, people have been elected to the county board while serving on the city counsel and told they couldn't serve on two boards at the same time. Is there a different rule for the townships.
I know Mrs. Hawkins is well thought of. I just personally see her as an opportunist. For instance, she votes against a budget or a tax increase even though she knows there's no alternative and then sells to her constituents that she is the "watchdog". Very nice lady and certainly one to get involved. Those are just my observations and opinions after discussing her tactics with other county officials.
We can agree to disagree on the township form of government. I say it's long overdue for elimination. The highway department could easily be taken over by your village or even a private company. Too many layers of government these days in my opinion.
