Another fall, another dumb thing we do. Set the clocks back. Not only is this a silly practice that wastes senseless calories changing the clocks around the house, IT'S BACKWARDS. If anything we should set our clocks FORWARD in the fall and back in the spring. While I am not arguing that we should from hence forth set our clocks forward in the fall, rather than the spring, I am arguing the that latter should be preferred; if we are going to continue this doltish practice every year, we ought do so in the correct manner.

I don't care what "time" the sunrises, it changes throughout the year and is immutable. I'm always at work before it comes up anyway. I don't care if the sun is up or not while I am working. Unlike rain, you can't hear the sunshine, and there are no windows to notice otherwise. I do however care very much what "time" the sun sets. I'd come in early enough to leave at noon if they'd let me, but alas, a 2:30 departure is the earliest I can muster on a good day, as the front office guys don't like showing up till much later in the day. This whole 'being lucky to enjoy 3 hours of sunshine today' blew.

I tend to get sleepy around the time the sun goes down (gee I wonder why), a problem in the summer, when it's light out till 9:30, (and I wake at 4am every day). It's an even bigger problem this time of year, when I get home from work, on what was an otherwise nice day, and must retreat, half finished, from the yard work I was doing, before it's even 'dinner time'.
