Welcome back Sporty. You make a very good point. If one looks at the information it is obvious that revenues have declined and even though expenditures have decreased, they need to be held at current rates if this problem is to be fixed. If the district is currently running a deficit of $3 million and IF this new tax will only bring in $3 million, there's no room for any new expenditures. I think they will not only have to freeze those expected increases but may need to look for concessions to help reduce cost. I'm still planning on a yes vote for this but will wait with anxious anticipation to see that the line on spending is held. I will also be leery of this if the sales pitch indicates the board can bring back items that have previously been eliminated such as music, p.e., etc... Pay all your bills first and then bring back items that we deemed expendable last year. We do it all the time in private business. I remember several years telling my staff there was no money for raises. A job in the hand is worth a raise in the bush. This is an important issue for this community's future. I certainly hope all people understand that.
