PRESS RELEASE
IL 111 at Chain of Rocks Road in Madison County
Location – IL 111 at Chain of Rocks Road in Pontoon Beach
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that the intersection at IL 111 and Chain of Rocks Road in Pontoon Beach will be closed to all traffic beginning Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. to replace the concrete pavement in the intersection, weather permitting. All work is expected to be completed by September 23, 2014. The detour routes will be marked as follows:
- To North IL 111 – Take I-270 to North IL-255 to West New Poag Road to IL 111. - To West Chain of Rocks Rd – Take I-270 to North IL 203/Chain of Rocks Road. - To East Chain of Rocks Rd – Take I-270 to North IL 157 to West Chain of Rocks Road.
In addition, minor lane closures will be encountered August 25th – August 28th for widening and pavement saw cutting.
The Department asks that motorists be patient, reduce speed, and use extreme caution when traveling near and throughout this work zone. Please allow for extra time when traveling the above detour routes. Additional signing and traffic control devices will be provided to assist motorists through the work zones.
