    Neighborhood Etiquette Archived Message

Hello all! It's been quite awhile since I've posted! I hope you are all doing well. Tonight, I have a question about etiquette.

I've been an official homeowner in GC now since October. We LOVE our neighborhood and the lot of our neighbors (with the exception of two neighbors behind us with dogs that won't quit LOL). There are mornings that I wake up and just drink coffee in the dining room and stare out the front window admiring our neighborhood... after living in a crappy townhome for 4 years with a bad reputation, I'm sure you can imagine our delight.

SO, here's the situation... I come home Friday afternoon to a horribly hideous sign placed in the front of my house (on the strip of property that's on the opposite side of the sidewalk, which I maintain but the city owns..) It is advertising a yard sale on the parallel street for the weekend.

While I don't mind helping neighbors out, would I be terrible to say they should have asked if it were okay to put the sign there? Not to mention, they put it right where I park my car, so no one would see it. I am all for being a kind neighbor, and if it were me, I would have definitely asked before doing that. Even though none of us own that property, we all still maintain what's in front of our lawns. We all take great pride in how our lawns look.

One of my neighbors saw me out there moving it and he came to help me. He told me he would have done the same thing and thought they should have asked.

    What do you guys think?
