Talk about taking me back in time, that post sure did just that! Back then, I think we only had channels 2,4,5,9,11 and 30. I almost forgot about Creature Feature. That was a big deal late night.
I can remember going to that Dairy Queen on Madison ave and instead of ice cream, getting a foot long hot dog. I also remember on a rare occasion getting a parfait only because of what seemed at that time, was the huge, tall fancy glass it was served in, with the super long spoon.
I also remember getting to walk to the "candy store" on a hot summer afternoon with maybe 25 or 30 cents and walking out with a brown paper bag full of penny candy and a Five-O to drink.
A hot summer day with a sack full of candy and a garden hose or a sprinkler and you were the go to house in the neighborhood for the day. Playing outside all day long and going inside to the smell of supper cooking on the stove. Those were the days!
