As we get closer to yet another event at one of our Veteran's Organizations, I am totally disappointed at the response from Granite City. I always read and hear how our townspeople care about our Veterans but yet, here we ALL are, going broke and no support from the community, but yet the community looks to us for support when they need it. This is so disappointing to me. Our American Legion post is literally going broke. We may have to shut down in the near future and then when a Veteran needs us, we won't be there. This is disturbing. I don't usually post my political views on here but I will say this. Our government is NOT helping the Veterans that keep this country free and continue to make the USA a better place. We as Veterans have to help our Veterans and we have to rely on the community to help us. If we shut down, all the donations we make to many different charities including our local charities will stop. There will be a trickle down effect. Maybe it won't make that big of a difference but a difference will be made. Sorry for my rant but I haven't been this disheartened over this situation ever. It saddens me to possibly see yet another Veterans organization close up shop.
