I worked in customer service from the time I was 16 until the age of 32 both for corporate America and small family run businesses. I realize this is a private, members only club but when they rent to the general public it then becomes a business. Poor customer service in unacceptable but sadly the norm in today's society.
I always took pride in making my customers happy, attempting to right a wrong (usually that was managements job just as the Elk's Board) but I gave it my all to bring problems to their attention and offer solutions.
This club should be ashamed and as a wedding and reception is considered to be a one time event (although that too has changed with today's society), there truly is no way to right this wrong. Personally, I would have asked for a FULL refund for ruining such an important day and then bartered from there. As far as their management, a quick resolution would have been in their favor. Jacking people around only makes it worse.
Much sympathy to the bride and groom and their families. I cannot believe the downward spiral of customer service in the last decade.
