I"ll be out a few days, not sure of the connection. But it's not just about neighborliness...but the respect and mindfulness. I for one cannot take old movies, though I like older music, maybe. I fully intend to live in 2013 like a person from 2013, but do not want to adapt to the decay in decency, respect, and overall mindfulness. What I do in my community matters, and what I do, I want to do for the good of the community. If you take time to see me, I will receive you. If I go to see you, I will prepare myself to be received and dress like I'm honored to see you... I mean there are exceptions...like if I'm coming over to help move or something. Even the poorest people had dignity, and the people who had hard times still could scrape together some water mixed with soap and clean their clothes and bodies. Now, even those with a great deal can't do that much. There's something missing today. I don't want to go back to yesterday. Underneath Ozzie and Harriet were untold tales of things that are covered up. The happy face of the 50's was real, but at times it covered a lot of tears. Still people had more decency and there is something missing. How do we be people of 2013, but not sacrifice decency, dignity...and a spirit of looking out for the 'we' instead of number one. Again, it transcends so many areas....from architecture to education from business to politics...to just living our everyday life. The decay of decency is noted in just about every area. I'll continue this...but maybe later in the week.
