I went to GCS Credit Union when US Bank decided they were going to charge me for my checking account, after I'd been with them since I moved to Granite City in 2002. At first I got a percentage of the amount I ran as credit on my check card back every month. They took that away after a few years. Then they said they would charge $6.95 a month if I didn't keep an average account balance of $1,500 or have combined monthly direct deposits totaling $500+.
