I think districts that are making payments on new schools would be in the most trouble. Granite City has no debt for buildings that I know of.

Edwardsville has that newer school on Goshen Road that is EXTREMELY nice and I bet its expensive too. I think that its a middle school?

Granite closes schools but that I know of have never built new since North High School. Which I think they should have never gotten rid of....but thats a different topic.

SWIC has a really nice campus there!!

Its all about where your money goes and how you spend it. Granite will fair better than most I believe because they are frugal with their money. With the exception of Brad Evanson and his hefty school auditorium bill.....Other than a bigger hall way and a new front which looks really nice....what was the point again? Longer possible popcorn recession stand lines? lol

Granite City will get hit as we have seen.....but I think financially they are more secure than many schools in our area. They need to cut paycheck salaries....not staff. Granite City teachers are the highest paid in the area and they (the ones working on the debt) need to take the salaries of all teachers/administrators/non certified staff and make it comparable to the whole counties payroll.

I don't see the need to pay our teachers higher than the going rate in our area. JMO
