Sad to see a young man reach a state where he wants to end his own life. I sympathize and pray for him and his family. Veteran's since 1776 have come home with broken bodies and minds, with different emotions and beliefs. Most returning heroes returned from WWII with the bleief they conquered an evil threat to our safety and security. They were welcomed with ticker tape parades and open arms. Then can VietNam, another war fought by mostly draftees. They came home not only with broken bodies but with broken minds from the tactics they faced. They came home to a nation who saw the war at 6:00 every night and didn't like what they say. They were welcomed home with protest marches, spit, no jobs and the guilt of knowing they had not been allowed to complete their job. Today we have a volunteer army. This young man signed the line and knew the potential dangers. He questions the sanity and rationale of being sent to a war that ruined his life. It's not a stretch for him to strike out at those he believed caused his death. We have similar feelings when a nutjob shoots up a school. We want to blame someone because the chaos and the tragedy demand we do so. It's sad but it's a fate every soldier faces. That's why I consider them heroes and salute them all. I hope this young man changes his mind about causing his own death. I hope he finds peace in some small way that he did what he was called on to do. May God take care of him and his loved ones. Thanks for posting Shawn. Not many people get to see first hand what these men and women go for. I've seen these kinds of films and I've seen the ones where the crippled vet praises the service and his commrades. Both bring tears to my eyes. God bless the American soldier
