How about the health care industry and insurance companies?

You can trace the woes of the medical system back to FDR fixing wages during WWII, resulting in employers offering benefit packages, including health care, as a means to find more help. After the war the unions ran with idea that it should be an employers responsibility to provide health care to their employees. This idea transferred to the non-union sector, and is now pretty much law. So there you go, the Unions encouraged one of the biggest problem with our health care system today, the 'Third Party Payer' system.
