I think this is great. To the naysayers I can only say that downtown Granite City will never be like it was 50 years ago. Nor can (or is) ANY downtown (been DT St. Louis, lately?). The role of central business districts has changed. It's the urbanite, young professionals and creative people who've helped to transform them into once again desirable places. There's no reason whatsoever this can't happen in Granite as well. (The early stages and success of the first developments are very positive and I'd say show far more promise than the average person would realize.) Especially if MetroLink comes through Granite, it just may become a very desirable place to live on the metro St. Louis scene.
