What I am confused about. Is that you agree here that it is the parents responsibility to make sure your child is successful in school. Yet when a family chooses to take on that full responsibility and homeschool, you question their educational background and capability. Know that homeschooling parents will go to the ends of the earth to bring the needed material to their children. I can also assure you that my children are completely engaged in their classes. We do what is necessary to make sure that our children have a working understanding of the material. With that said, I do have to agree with her or him on the issues of a failing school system. You expect a higher quality of education than what our (your) children are getting. While I do agree 100% that involved parents play a large part of that education. The best thing you can do for your child regardless of where they are being educated is 5 easy steps 1.8 hours of good sleep. ( this means quiet the house, it’s not time to have friends over) 2.A good solid breakfast (no donuts). Protein and carbs 3.Set up a homework station in a place where you can help but there is not too much traffic. Check the back pack everyday and ask questions. When in doubt, call the teacher. 4.Check the homework and have the child place it in the proper folder and put it in the backpack when it is finished. 5.Set up a night before station. Clothes for the next day, back pack and anything else that needs to go to school. The bottom line is demand more from the school system but be prepared to give just as much.
