First off, sorry that I didn't see your post in regards to this question.

I propose everyone start getting active. Don't just sit idly by and accept the government as your rulers. If there are things that you don't like and they refuse to listen. Get together with like minded individuals, organize, gather information, spread information, run for the office where you can make the changes that you believe in. But nothing is going to change if you simply believe that those in government who enacted something will have a change of heart all on their own. And don't think, someone else will do something if it got bad enough.

In a state where open carry is legal and no permit is required, I saw a guy with a shirt that says "i'll keep my guns" So I tried to strike up a conversation with him and asked him if he ever open carries. He said no. Told him it's his right to, his response "I don't want the hassle" He would rather give up his rights simply because he might incur hassle from the police. I just left it at that and thought how sad to feel that your rights and freedoms aren't worth asserting. Could there be more to the story, perhaps. He could have been a felon for all I know, that's possible, but I'm going to assume not. Just one example of people who think that having rights are a hassle.

I'm planning on running for local council where I live now come January when I can get the paperwork, I plan on trying. There's things that I think I could try to make a difference in. One is reducing the number of council members from 8 to 6, even if it means eliminating my own position in the process. For the size of the town I'm in now (guestimated about 350 taxpayers) 8 council members is excessive. It's also possible I can get that changed without being on the council. But I go to the council meetings to know what my government is doing. I'm active, asking questions, if I don't like the answer, I keep digging. Plain and simple, DO SOMETHING.
