I know a lot of us here have voiced their opinion on Gateway Hospital. (many negative feelings, mine included) Now, I'd like to add something positive about the nursing staff there. My dad was released Monday and admitted to Cedar Ridge Nursing Home and Rehap Center in Lebanon, Il. Since Monday, at least two of the nurses from Gateway who took care of dad have gone all the way to Lebanon to visit him. (one brought her little 3 yr old boy, as she did on her day off at Gateway, and the little guy made dad's day by crawling in bed with him and giving him hugs and kisses.) Several have said they are going to see him on their days off. One of the nurses even brought dad a fish plate because she know he really liked fish. I'm overwhelmed by their care and concern because they could just have easily forgotten about him after he was released. Dad endeared himself to all of them. He had special nicknames for each and even if they were working on another floor, they would take time to come see how he was doing. Many thanks to all for taking such good care of dad and "adopting" him as your own!
