)Hobo Jungle: The Hobo Jungle I had heard of but only in about the past 10/15 years or so...but I know very little about it.
)George Lindsey's: This was the old Lums Restaurant out in the Uptown area in the shopping center where the Shop and Save is currently at. Lindsay's may have been located in the general area of Ravalanies...or the A T & T center...somewhere around those places. George Lindsey (Goober on the Andy Griffith Show) bought that franchise...unfortunately, the restaurant in Granite City caught on fire and burnt down.
)Big Top Restaurant and Bowl: OK I am not sure of this but, in the late 1950's there was a drive-in restaurant with car-hops located at the intersection of Johnson & Namoki Roads. This restaurant was located on thew north west corner of that intersection...somewhere around where the USBank is today....might be the place you listed??? With the addition of "the Bowl"...I think it is not the same place tho.
)Ravanellis by the Railroad tracks on Pontoon and Nameoki: I did not know of Ravanellis being at a different location that where it is today...that is interesting.
)Rubensteins Shoes: It seems that I remember this shoe store being in the old Downtown Business District???
)The cab company between the Washington Theater and the little grillthat I can't think of the name of) You bet I remember both the cab stand and the small diner both...and I think that Rhonda is correct on the name of the diner.
)Mr. Donut: Mr. Donut, is that the same area where Auto Zone (Auto Shack) is at today??
)Tri City Gambles: This one I flat-out do not remember.
Great thread.
How about Smilin Joes?: Or this one either...but I do know of Smoky Joe's on Highway 111 in Pontoon. Smokey Joe's was originally named Zamironies Tavern.
