Anyone else remember the news story 20 years ago (more or less) where this happened and the woman in the car died? Pretty sure it ended up with a murder conviction for the kid(s) involved.
St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - Several South St. Louis drivers are cleaning up broken windows after driving under a busy overpass.
Selma Obic has driven under the bridge at Gravois and Meramec dozens of times without any problems, that is, until Tuesday night.
"I was going under and all of a sudden I heard this loud pop and I ducked down," Obic said. "I pulled over to see what the damage was and here it is [pointing to a large hole in her rear windshield]."
Obic says someone on the bridge had thrown a rock through her windshield.
Investigators with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department say it happened to at least three other drivers Tuesday night. Each had significant damage to their cars and windows, but no one was hurt. One reported seeing a white teenager in the area. So far, police do not have any suspects. But Obic wants those responsible to know it's not a game.
"It's not funny," Obic said. "I could have been seriously hurt, crash my car or killed."
Obic filed a police report but says she will most likely pay for the damage out of pocket.
