I have to agree with Machine on this one. It's a hard pill to swallow especially after going through the FAFSA process with my daughter. This process was long, detailed and very complicated.

In order for my daughter, a legal citizen of the United States that was graduating with honors at the age of 18, to be considered for any kind of assistance to help pay for college, the financial history of both myself and her father had to be submitted. They even demanded our tax returns for the last 3 years.

Then, our government expects me to do a happy dance because they are wanting to pass a "Dream Act" that helps parents that entered my country illegally, send their illegal offspring to college in my country? Wrap this injustice in a pretty package and call it the "Dream Act"!?!

I've got a suggestion for them. How about these people that have entered our country illegally shape up or get shipped out. Follow the necessary steps and laws to become a legal citizen.

Then, and only then get a job and pay your fair share of taxes and then start the FAFSA process with your children that want to apply for assistance in funding their college education.

Make them disclose their financial history, past and present tax returns etc. Suggest to them, that they may want to consider a personal loan or possibly a second mortgage on their homes to cover the cost.

"Dream Act" my ass, strive for the American dream just like the rest of us have had to do for generations. Find a job, work your ass off, pay your taxes and budget and put your pennies in the piggy bank and hope for the best!
