    Star,

I understand what you said about the regional organization of special education in the Tri-City area. What I have been told is that because Granite City is the largest of the districts-what Granite wants as far as special education Granite City gets. Venice runs an elementary school. Madison has a few elementary schools, a small middle school and a small high school. The vast majority of students, therefore funding, goes to Granite City. During the election campaign-I took the opportunity to speak to most of the candidates and a few of the non-candidate incumbents. All agreed that programs for children with special issues are important and should be headed by knowledgeable and professional administrators. Some were more frank than others is stating their opinion about the current situation. The candidates that told me they were in favor of making changes-got my vote.

From what I have been told-there is no credibility in the present leadership. This credibility vacuum is at all levels-elementary, middle and high school. The teachers want a change and have an aching desire to have professional and competent administrators. It seems competency and professionalism are two things the teachers have not seen for a very long time.
