Most people in Granite City can be thankful it wasn't their home damaaged or destroyed. I can't imagine what it would feel like to come out of the basement to find your home gone. While yes, no one was hurt or killed, but still wander around your yard and ask yourself where do I start to rebuild or what do I try to salvage first before another rain comes has to be traumatic. I have deep sympathy for them.
It makes our hail damage seem trivial.
This is an Easter Sunday where many can be thankful for living thru the experience without bodily harm.
As far as the fire chief's comments....I have do disagree.....any loss from a storm as such is catastropic, regardless of how many homes were involved. Just think of how the readius would have grown if it were an EF3 or 4 tornado?
