Just playing the devils advocate here for a moment, and after witnessing your sometimes brutal assessment of Illinois politics and your love for Paul Rand...maybe the response from the Illinois Reps were in kind to the tone of your email to them, and the same goes for Paul Rand?
If it was the very same email, then disregard. Gut feeling tells me they were in fact separately composed emails to each rep.
I am in contact with my representatives on a fairly consistent basis due to my affiliation with Illinois ABATE and other rights organizations and for the most part I have found the experience to be quite pleasant. They of course do not always agree with me, nor I with them, but usually I am given the time to voice my opinion. No matter how angry I am about the subject at hand, I realize can get more with honey than I can with vinegar when dealing with elected officials.
Tact and diplomacy are something that their position demands.
