This comes from a story in the post. (http://www.stltoday.com/news/local/crime-and-courts/article_85696c0d-7107-5391-ab9c-5a0126b73003.html) I do not believe in re-posting stories..and you may have to read the story first - because my comments might not make sense otherwise. My detractors would say that they wouldn't make sense anyway.

    My comment:

    I just don't believe the guy's story.

And even if he is right - his intoxication was then inexcusable.

This guy claimed to get the wrong key from a hotel clerk and the key opened a room with a 9 year old and 2 14 year old girls.

He then proceed to sleep in the bed. The parents chased him out and called 911. He is now charged with molestation and sodomy.

I tend to think that someone being simply too drunk to know their room is not enough. I tend to believe in my gut feeling that his explanation is not sufficient.

Even if the clerk was negligent -- wouldn't someone turn on a light when entering a hotel room?

He claims he just hopped into bed and that's it.

He did not turn on a light? He did not see the girls and then say -- O God I"m so sorry and run the other way?

When he lied in bed - he did not just simply crash.. No, he had just an undergarment on.

I don't know about you -- but it's hard to do all of that in the dark and - then climb into bed, especially in a room that is not familiar to him.

If it was the wrong room and just a mistake -- surely he would have had to see someone was there.

    Yes, he claimed intoxication.

It has been a long time since I was intoxicated out of my senses.

Someone tried to help me to my own room. (No one was there - and I still knew where my room was). I basically passed out with all my clothes on. I did not have the ability to get into my 'bed' clothes. I was pretty wasted that night.

My Argument is this -- if he was so wasted -- he would have crashed with his clothes on.

If he were not wasted enough to be able to dress in his 'night clothes' then he would not be wasted enough to know he was in the wrong room.

He should have gotten the hell out of there! I mean if he was able to take off his clothes -- he should be able to see that other people are in there as well as other peoples' stuff.

In short -- I don't believe they guy's story. Even if he is half right --- then it was wrong to get so intoxicated. There are consequences to intoxication.

Impaired ability to judge in my mind is no excuse.
