What would I ask the 'young' Candidates? Here are the answers I would imagine the young man might come up with.
- What is your experience with finances that makes you believe you should be part of a board that governs a district whose finances are in the tens if not hundreds of millions?
Well, when I was in High School, I delivered pizza and had to balance my money and tips each night. When I came up short I just asked the manager to fix it.
-What is your experience with working with State and Federal standards? Writing and applying for grants? - Well, first I just recently took the PSAE test as a junior in High School so I'm aware of the standards. And I did help fill out some paperwork for college grants.
What is your knowledge of curriculum and what are your ideas for raising the educational standards and test scores. As I stated I just finished the curiculum so I know it. As for raising those standards? That's easy, make the test easier.
- What is your experience of running a plant, maintaining buildings and grounds - hiring contractors? Huh?
- What is your experience of collective bargaining and working with union contracts?
"I have none but I'm willing to learn from the unions."
- What is your experience with tort law - and ensuring compliance for numerous standards such as youth protection, handicap access, OSHA standards....etc... " Uh, I was told there would be a snack sometime during the debate".
What is your experience with troubled youth? What will you do when one is up for expulsion, how will you handle the process. "If they are the ones who picked on me during school, I say expel them. "
What is your experience with personnel? What about hiring and firing? What about disciplinary hearings? What is your familiarity with non-discrimination laws " Don'they hire a guy for that?"
Obviously spoof answers but they show how I feel about a young kid trying to be part of a multi-million dollar organization. As I've said before, it's admirable if he's doing it for the right reasons. The fact of the matter is no person of this age has enough experience, maturity and good old life skills to be taken too seriously. Sorry, that's my opinion.
Oh and LC, anytime you want to start a good debate instead of this LCBS, just open the topic and we can all talk. It's too transparent what you newbies are trying to do here.
