There are things in this report that are trivial, such as when she took her vacation time. Also, I am not a big fan of the 'You Paid For It' Type of Reporting. That said, among the highlights of this:
-Board member lies about taking a tax payer funded trip to Austin.
-Superintendent spent double the travel cost of any Superintendent in area.
-School Board members went on trips to Austin, Salt Lake City, and Washington DC.
-District cannot tell reporter the reason for various trips.
-Fifty employees spent 65,000 dollars on various trips to Chicago.
I know East St. Louis is an easy target to pick on, but it is truly baffling that this is allowed to go on. I also mentioned my disdain for this type of reporting. The best way to combat these questions is to have actual answers. Instead, the Superintendent uses an idiotic (I really could not think of a better word) quote and challenges the reporter to prove that this was unjustified. Maybe the good doctor should simply tell the reporter why these trips were necessary and what knowledge they hoped to bring to their district.
